I’ve used several dashboard-based software for affiliates that allows me to API my different affiliate networks in order to pull all the data into one place. That’s great for keeping track of where commissions are coming from, but there is a step that gets skipped time after time. How do I start earning commissions as a beginner that doesn’t have conversions or traffic for that matter?
The answer is rhetorical, but I’ve prided myself in helping beginner affiliates get traction. Building a framework around sound data and understanding how to use it not only allows one to earn a commission and have insight into what events led to it. But you can now build an audience based on micro-conversions and use it for your paid ads.
Why You Should Be Tracking Goals, Events, and Conversions
There are a few phases to consider when you decided on data marketing as a relevant solution.
You’ll need to take a moment to audit your website to know which pages are getting enough traffic for you to build a decent sample size. Once you have a baseline for knowing what to consider you can then build your events and conversions. If you are using GA4 you’ll use custom dimensions and events to track visitor interactions. After this is completed, you’ll want to organize your data into reports. Once you get to the phase of reporting, you’ll be in a position to analyze the data in order to make decisions that can streamline or maximize a user’s path to conversions that lead to commissions paid.
